Your motor has .040 pistons installed in them. So your block was bored AT least .040 over. If the block was just bored .040 you would not have any slap, then again the piston wouldn't move much hehehe. I would call your engine shop and ask what the bore clearance was set to when they did your block. And like aliaZ said, does the problem only occur when a cold start and then goes away when its up to temperature?
